MASTERPLAN

HEARTLANDS IS ABOUT FUTURE-PROOFING

An overall aerial concept of the Heartlands frameworks

Heartlands is about maximising its contribution to the local area and the central M8 corridor economy. It will act as the catalyst to attract high quality skilled employment to the area and stimulate investment in support of the economic growth and development of the region. By developing a vibrant and profitable community it will create a secure foundation to ensure future investment and continued development. Heartlands is about sustainability. It will create a community in a safe, pedestrian friendly landscape with open spaces, play areas, footpaths and cycle ways and will set new trends is design and master planning while being environmentally & ecologically friendly.

Glasgow & Edinburgh are only a short distance away. Walk, cycle or drive to the new park & ride and transport interchange and with new & improved transport links to local train stations and the M8 motorway via the new junction, Heartlands will become the No.1 choice to work, live and play.

Heartlands is a massive and long term development split into three sections or frameworks. Framework "A" forms the bulk of the project and comprises of the Heartlands Business Park, the new motorway junction 4A, 2000 new houses, the Heartlands village square complex and the two Donald Ross Memorial Courses. The business park infrastructure is complete and construction of the Donald Ross (West) course is at an advanced stage. The remediation of the land in readiness for house construction is nearing completion.

Framework "B" will be the next section built towards the east of the development and will comprise of more houses built along the lines of Framework A from affordable apartments to luxury homes looking out on the golf courses. Central to Framework "B" will be the Neighbourhood Centre which will encompass retail, primary healthcare & education / childcare facilities. To encourage community cohesion high quality social and affordable housing integrated through the common use of communal areas or paths will be created close to the neighbourhood centre and adjacent to public transport routes. Construction of Framework "B" will commence as Framework "A" is being completed but there will also be some overlapping with the link to the A706 and Blaeberryhill Road, taking traffic away from the existing town centre.

Framework C at the west of the site will be primarily housing reaching down the western boundary of the site from the B7066 to the golf courses. Framework "C" is a long term proposal for Heartlands and is subject to planning permissions.
